I am an iPhone user… 0

…and I’m pretty proud of it.

Glad we got that established. What brought this on?

Every time a new device comes out now it seems that some tech article out there has to ask the question “Will X be the iPhone killer?” One of the latest ones is the Android phone, T-Mobile’s G1. To be honest, while the technology on the phone might be good, I don’t like the look of the phone itself and would probably never use it.

Did I mention I can be somewhat of a tech snob?

One of the nicer options I’ve seen is the Blackberry Bold 9000. This thing almost had me delay my decision to get the iPhone in early September, but the uncertainty surrounding its release date was a problem (now November according to an article I read yesterday). When I was in the market for a new phone, I was trying to find one quickly: I needed something that I could get my e-mail on, access my company’s webmail if necessary, and check the web for status updates in an emergency situation. The emergency situation I speak of was Hurricane Ike. All that considered, at the time the iPhone was a no-brainer for me, especially since I was already an AT&T customer, eligible for the upgrade, and still using a flip-phone.

I use my iPhone mostly for my work e-mail when I’m away from the office, it comes in exceptionally handy in that regard. One could argue that since I use it for mostly work-related stuff, I should have got a Blackberry. Yeah, I could have. I use the App Store sparingly and refuse to play games on my phone. I do use the iPod features quite frequently though.

Overall, I do not regret my decision to get the iPhone. If something comes along that is better without a doubt, there’s nothing stopping me from switching. I imagine I’d enjoy the iPhone that much more if I had a Mac though.
